DAY 1: Arrival at Entebbe International Airport

Upon arrival at Entebbe International Airport, you will be met by a Great Explorers Safaris’ representative and transferred to your hotel, check in at the Boma, your home for this night. Lunch is on own account.

Depending on your flight, visit the botanical gardens and later enjoy a sunset cruise with drinks and snacks bar at an extra cost. Dine and overnight at the Boma

DAY 2: Travel to Kibale Forest National Park (Driving time 4 hours)

You will depart from Kampala after breakfast and head westwards to the tourism city (fort Portal). The drive will take about 4 – 5 hours. Lunch awaits in Fort Portal, thereafter continue to Kibale National park. In the afternoon we visit a nearby forest swamp that is excellent for viewing primates and other forest animals. At the Eastern edge of the Kibale forest is the Bigodi wetland sanctuary which is maintained by the local community.

You will expect birds like the great Blue turaco, blue monkeys, baboons, otters, mongoose, bushbucks, bush pigs, and among others,

Bigodi Swamp Walk is an initiative of the local community and is known for its rich diversity of birds and primates. The path and board walk maybe flooded and muddy after heavy rainfall and gumboots are recommended. The walk is about 4km in length taking 3-4 hours at birding pace with local community guides. All proceeds from eco- tourism go back to into the community, a conservation project well worth supporting. Overnight at Primate Lodge Kibale

DAY 3:  Chimp tracking and transfer to Queen Elizabeth (Driving time 2 hours)

After breakfast, you will report to the Kanyanchu tourist centre for a briefing before tracking the chimpanzees. The forest is only accessible on the foot and the walk will provide you with the opportunity to see a variety of other primates and animals as well as birds, and a variety of butterflies for butterfly lovers and other insects.

Upon sighting the chimpanzees, you will spend an unforgettable one hour with them as they go about their daily life - feeding, playing, grooming, taking care of their young, howling and screeching, in their natural habitats.

 On return to the lodge for lunch and in the afternoon you will transfer to queen Elizabeth National Park.

Dine and overnight at Elephant Plains Lodge.

DAY 4:  Game drive and boat Cruise in Queen Elizabeth National Park.

After your morning breakfast. You will have an early morning wildlife safari drive where you will see all the big five on a lucky drive. Animals to view include the lion, leopard, giant forest hog, Cape buffalo, elephant, Defassa waterbuck, Uganda kobs, topi and bushbuck among others. You will return to your lodge for lunch and in the afternoon go for a 2 hour boat cruise on Kazinga channel which is 42 km channel that joins Lake Edward and Lake George. This trip passes through the highest concentration of hippos and offers an excellent platform for photography, birdwatching and game viewing. The prolific bird life colorful, with well over 550 resident species.

Dine and overnight at Elephant Plains Lodge.

DAY 5: Drive in Ishasha and transfer to Bwindi (driving time 3 hours)

After breakfast, you will be transferred to Bwindi via the Ishasha sector with a 2-3 hours game drive at the Ishasha sector in search for the tree climbing lions. Expect to see other animal species as well such as warthogs, leopards, spotted hyenas and birds. After, then you will transfer to Bwindi Impenetrable Forest Park. Dine and overnight at Mahogany Lodge.

DAY 6: Gorilla trekking (Bwindi Impenetrable NP) and Batwa Experience

Today after breakfast, Proceed for the morning briefing before enjoying the highlight of the trip - Gorilla trekking, which may last the whole day. We trek through the rainforest and bamboo covered slopes, accompanied by the UWA guide and trackers, search for the mountain gorilla family. The walking can be tough and long sometimes but it always pays off when you catch a glimpse a magnificent silverback, any discomfort will quickly be forgotten when sighted. Visitors will be guided to keep within 6 meters from the gorillas. Sit around them the whole hour while gazing into their big round eyes. Gorilla trekking is unpredictable. It’s difficult to foresee how many hours you will be in a hike. The gorilla execution can take from 4-6 hours so expect to walk a long distance in steep and muddy conditions, sometimes with rain overhead, before you encounter any gorilla.

For, conservation purposes the time spent with Gorillas is limited to one hour. Time allowing you will also have a guided community walk to experience the livelihoods of the local communities. As planned, you will take on the gorilla trekking Bwindi route to visit a traditional herbalist to see how he prepares native medicine to treat a wide array of human ailments. See a black smith who manufactures local tools used in everyday life and see how local beer is brewed in a local way. You will also be entertained by local traditional dances and songs offered by the community.

Dine and overnight will be at Mahogany Springs.

DAY 7: Travel to Kampala with stopover at the equator 8-9 hours

After breakfast, you will return to Kampala, you will have a stopover at the Equator where you will have the remarkable opportunity of standing in two hemispheres at the same time and take same photos. You will also make a stopover at the Mpigi Royal Drum Makers Center where you will be able to watch the ceremonial drum being crafted using traditional methods passed down through generations. Then transfer to Entebbe/ airport depending on your flight time. Dine and overnight at your own cost

DAY 8: Departure: Depending on your departing flight, fly back home using Entebbe international airport.
